The Mosque Named Dwarkamai

Dwarkamai is located in between Samadhi Mandir and Chavadi – the relaxing place of Master Sai Baba. One gets on his way to Dwarkamai by current Checkpoint No. 3 of Samadhi Mandir Building, near Mukh-darshan. On the other hand one can arrive at Dwarkamai through Checkpoint No. 4 which moves through a jct of stores in a little isle.Opposite to Dwarkamai, one will observe a lengthy row of stores swarmed with broad variety of images of Master Sai Baba in all styles, idols, attractive parts and much more which a reader's thoughts actually think of. Getting near to Dwarkamai, the huge fireplace is noticeable as its first vision.

History and Importance
Shirdi Dwarkamai - 1905

This easy and unadorned framework created up of metal ceiling and difficult rocks was middle of religious instructions which was selected by Master Sai Baba Himself. It is certainly a issue of shock to anyone and it will be challenging to believe the simple fact it was the locations where the well-known Fakir known as "Sai Baba" invested about 60 decades of His life-span on this world. When Mhlasapti declined to allow this wandering Fakir to create Khandoba forehead His Residence, an old and decayed mosque was determined by Him and it was known as as “Dwarkamai”. Rather, this was already meant and a brilliant phase of Master Baba to join forces Hindu and Islamic team by labeling a mosque after a hub of pilgrimage of Hindus (Dwarka - Area of Master Krishna). This mosque was not limited only to Hindus and Muslims, individuals of every caste, creed, color, belief, sect, intelligence, place were no cost get into, search for religious value according to his potential and come back with articles center.

Saibaba In Dwarkamai

One would certainly be amazed to see this traditional framework as chair of Extremely Spiritual E of this era and would rather be perturbed to think the factor that this was the very same place where wonders, religious discourses and nurturing activities of beloved Master Baba ran in quivalent variety to its guests cum hunters. One viewpoint which can handle this measures of Master Baba is that He was dispassion incarnate and liked full simpleness with minimal existing and desired to set an example of non-attachment, so what place other than the old and decayed mosque would fit Him? In this mosque His qualities were – a Chilam (smoking pipe), a Satka (small stick), asking dish and a few parts of material on which He used to relax and a Kafni on His body. He used to say, “Fakiri (poverty) is far better than Amiri (Kingship).” Although His supporters (devotees) was adament to carry out fixes to this mosque, He tried to prevent them saying that there is no need for it. The mosque in whatever situation it was, was costlier to Him more than a diamond-studded precious metal framework. For Him, this was actual significance of Kingship and it has been mentioned that He never permitted His lovers to carry cash money or expensive existing articles. This would fury Him to no boundaries, but when easy lovers introduced something to eat for Him and afterwards didn't remember about the factor, the liability of telling the devotee was on back of special Master Baba. Hiss really like ran in large quantity on such events and in convert Master Baba Himself got in financial trouble to offer His special devotee for many births to come alongwith the existing one.

Shirdi Saibaba Old Dwarkamai - Appx.-1930
The peculiarity of this mosque as stated earlier is that anyone was free to access it. Suffering bodies and its resident souls experienced that merely going inside this palace of Lord Baba confer blessings and one is free from every misery the very same moment. One always has a feeling of security, calmness, acceptance when he is in his mother’s lap. Lord Baba described greatness of this mosque by naming it as “Maai or Ayi (as said in Marathi language). Henceforth I would also refer it as ‘Mother Mosque’.

See what Master Baba has said about this mom mosque: This is our Dwarkamai, where you are seated. She wards off all risks and stresses of the kids, who sit in her lap. This Masjidmai is very merciful; she is the merciful mom of the easy lovers, whom she will preserve in mishaps. Once a individual rests in her lap, all his problems are over. He, who sets in her color, gets enjoyment.”

One is surely to get enhanced motherly and homely atmosphere in this abode of Lord Baba. But as per His characteristic, He included Himself in His group of devotees and be a One of them! Lord Sai Baba is loving mother to many of His devotees and to many others He is God Supreme. Thus these two are closely synthesized in Lord Baba – a mother who looks after smallest of smallest domestic need of His child and the Supreme One Who is always concerned about spiritual upliftment of His devotees.

Dwarkamai Masjid 1898

When Lord Baba moved to this dilapidated mosque, it was sheer small and not like the one which we see today. Rather, only the upper level existed where Lord Baba has settled and started to live like ordinary Fakir mortals. Few rich devotees thought of getting mosque repaired. With initial opposition of Lord Baba, they succeeded in getting permission through Bhagat Mhlasapti who intervened and pressed Lord Baba to accept request of His dear devotees. Shri Gopal Gund thought that he should repair and renovate the Masjid. But this work was not assigned to him. This was reserved for Nanasaheb Chandorkar and the pavement work for Kakasaheb Dixit. His permanently shifting to dwarkamai was in fact a turning point of His life and also the village as a whole because it marked close contact with local residents of Shirdi.

Saibaba In Dwarkamai

After sometime a unusual and amazing occurrence drawn the villager’s interest and thereby they came to know about some unnatural capabilities current in this so known as mad Fakir. The occurrence has been read in Shri Sai Satcharitra and it has been very well-known, that these days also it is being recalled and has got place in designs of many bhajan lines authors, artwork of performers and documents of broad variety of authors.

After this occurrence many leelas followed leading to a ongoing increase of lovers and the trend has not ceased ever since then. It noticeable success of excellent over wicked, simple fact over falsity, lighting over night. Dwarkamai is thus always lit with lighting, lighting being a icon of understanding and religious wiseness. Here is finish edition of this story: Sai Baba was very attached to lighting. He used to gain accessibility oil from shop-keepers, and keep bulbs losing the whole evening in the Masjid and forehead. This went on for a while. The Banias, who provided oil free, once met together and determined not to provide Him oil. When, as regular, Sai Baba went to ask for oil, they all offered Him a unique “No”. Unperturbed, Sai Baba came back to the Masjid and kept the dry draws in the bulbs. The banias were looking at Him with fascination. Sai Baba took the Tumrel (tin pot) which provided very little (a few drops) of oil, put drinking water into it and consumed it and pressured it drop in the package. After consecrating the tin-pot in this way, He again took drinking water in the tin-pot and loaded all the bulbs with it and lit up them. To the shock and surprise of the looking at Banias, the bulbs began to get rid of and kept losing the whole evening. The Banias repented and apologized. Sai Baba forgave them and requested them to be more genuine later on.

Dwarkamai Present

The Dwarkamai of today consists of two levels – the upper and lower one. The upper level consists of Dhuni Maa, A Puja Pillar, Water Pot on Stand, Kolamba underneath it, Nimbar, A Grinding Stone and Sack of Wheat Grains, Cupboard containing Chilams, a Large Portrait of Lord Baba – a living image of posture in which Lord Baba used to sit in Dwarkamai, Padukas in front of the Portrait, Dakshina Box and a bathing stone and lower level consists of A Tulsi Brindavan, Lord Baba’s portrait in His Sweet Posture and the stone on which He used to sit, Animal statues of a tiger and horse, A Tortoise tile, The Cooking hearth (Chula) and Wooden Post, Padukas where Baba used to Stand, Storage room and The Bell.

The lower level of mother mosque remains open all day and night allowing kids of Lord Baba to sit and rest. During three festivals of Ramnavami, Gurupoornima and Dushera the upper level is also kept open at nights.

ST0RY OF SAI BABA'S PERPETUALLY BURNING DHUNI IN SHIRDI

Even these days, in every area of Shirdi, the use of Sai Baba's Wonders can be seen.Thats why, since the last 150 decades Baba's Dhuni (Sacred Fire) is kept perpetually burning daily in Dwarkamai.

Fire is a symptom of power of which the whole galaxy is created and Flame Compromise appears for the cosmic attention in which the beyond any doubt generation is estimated, managed and regularly modified. Hence, ‘Dhuni’ is outstanding for home the sins to ashes, for those who search for finish sanctuary in this peerless Expert.

Sai Baba used to sit by the part of his "Dhuni" and look at it while being greatly consumed in ideas. He used to spread the 'Udi' the holy ash of his Dhuni, to all who came to Him, as a small of His elegance. This Sacred Ash had plenty of amazing healing capabilities too.

Dwarkamai is situated in between Samadhi Mandir and Chavadi – the resting place of Lord Sai Baba. One gets on his way to Dwarkamai by existing Gate No. 3 of Samadhi Mandir Premises, near Mukh-darshan. Alternatively one can reach Dwarkamai through Gate No. 4 which passes through a junction of shops in a small lane.Opposite to Dwarkamai, one will notice a long row of shops crowded with wide range of portraits of Lord Sai Baba in all sizes, idols, decorative pieces and much more which a visitor's mind actually think of. Nearing Dwarkamai, the large chimney is visible as its first sight.

- THE STORY OF BABA'S PERPETUALLY BURNING DHUNI IN DWARKAMAI -

Shirdi Sai Baba's Gurusthan was below a huge Neem Tree. When Baba came to Shirdi, he got the ground beneath this Neem Tree dug up and found 4 miraculously burning earthen lamps buried underneath, along-with a Rudraksha Mala.Baba regarded these 4 burning earthen lamps each symbolic for Satya, Dharm, Peace & Love respectively.

In his previous lifetime, Baba had done his Tapasya / Guru Sadhana here at this very point where the 4 burning lamps were found. Hence, the name "GURUSTHAN"

Baba then said that the time for the 4 lamps to continue burning in Gurusthan was now over, and that they should be shifted from the Gurusthan to "Dwarkamai" his Karmsthan, where they would continue to burn as his "DHUNI" till the time this World exists.

Thus, Baba's Dhuni was placed in a 7’ by 5’ 2” place in Dwarkamai, having wooden pillar on both the sides.
The Padukas near the Dhuni is the spot where Baba used to spend time in solitude everyday at 05:00 A.M.
There is an iron door that is opened to offer fuel.
Surprisingly the Wooden Pillars are not charred, or ever burnt and no body is ever burnt while cleaning it from inside.

In an incident related by Pujya Sivanesan Swamiji,
looking at the bellowing smoke, in 1974, a group of Russian scientists performed a test for pollution.
They were surprised to find only minimal count for carbon monoxide and Sulphur Dioxide

WHAT THE UDI OF BABA'S DHUNI SYMBOLIZES -

Through Udi, Baba communicated that all the noticeable phenomena in the galaxy are as temporary as the Dhuni's Ash. Our systems consisting of the five components will gradually be decreased to Ashes.

The "Brahman" is the only Actuality and the galaxy is ephemeral and that no one currently is really ours. We come currently alone and we have to go out alone.

The Udi also treated many actual & psychological problems, but Baba desired to din into the devotee's the concepts of splendour between the A fantasy and the Actual, non-attachment for the A fantasy, by asking for Dakshina and providing Udi.

The Udi trained "Discrimination" and the Dakshina trained "Non-attachment" and without these two it is not possible to go over the sea of the ordinary everyday living. So Baba requested for and took Dakshina, and while the lovers took depart, He offered Udi as Prasad, besmeared some of it on the Bhaktas' foreheads and placed His boon-conferring side on their brains.

And when Baba was in a contented feelings he used to perform,"Oh, lively Rama, come, come, and carry with you products of Udi."

Shirdi Sai Baba Temple

Sai Baba, one of the foremost saints of modern India, lived in the small village of Shirdi in the state of Maharashtra for sixty years. Due to his presence there even after his Samadhi, today the small village has transformed itself as a great spiritual center to people from all religions. Shri Sai Baba, inspite of his great spiritual stature, never publicized himself through discoursing, touring and preaching—unlike today’s many ‘so-called’ saints.

Shirdi town is situated in Rahata Tahasil in Ahmednagar District of Maharashtra State (India). It is located at 19o45′ North Latitude and 74o25′ East Longitude. It falls on Ahmednagar-Manmad State Highway No.10 at 83 Km. from Ahmednagar, and 15 Km. from Kopargaon. It (the Ahmednagar -Manmad road) was a very busy route in the old times. It is located at 185 Km. to the East from Western Seashore line.

India attracts millions of devotees of all religions, castes and creed who come to pay homage to Shri Sai Baba. The temple is a beautiful shrine that was built over the Samadhi of Shri Sai Baba. Thursday is the day Saibaba is specially worshipped. On this day devotees from all over India visit Shirdi for Darshan of Saibaba.

The Temple opens for devotees at 5.15 a.m. (0515 hrs) with Kakad Aarti and remains open till the end of Shejarti. For more on Puja timings. For devotees across the globe, there are arrangements to get Pujas conducted on their behalf and the prasad sent to them. Shirdi is well connected by road. There are also a few religious places of tourist interest in and around Shirdi. Shirdi Saibaba Temple is managed by Shri Sai Baba Sansthan since 1922. The trust ensures that a strict code of conduct is maintained in the temple premises.

The SAI BABA has done many miracles of his Lifetime. The villagers of Shirdi and afar soon found out that this was no ordinary fakir but an avatar (incarnation) of a very high order. He demonstrated through his miracles and utterances, the purpose and intention for which he had come. He would often say, “My Leela is inscrutable”. To each one he met, he imparted knowledge according to the capacity of the recipient to absorb it.

Some Assurance Of  SAIBABA are like wise : If you look at me I look at you.. If you cast your burden on me, I shall surely bear it.. There shall be no want in the house of my devotees.. If you seek my advice and help, it shall be given to you at once.. and many more Sai baba gave.

Samadhi Mandir of Shri Sai Baba was actually owned by a millionaire from Nagpur, a famous Sai devotee Shreemant Gopalrao. Gopalrao wanted to keep an idol of Murlidhar here. However, Baba himself became Murlidhar and the Mandir became the Samadhi Mandir of Baba.

Samadhi Mandir

The 15th October 1918 was a sorrowful and fateful day for the little village of Shirdi,  for in the heavy hours of the noon, the beloved master suddenly breathed his last.  Quietly and unobrusively, Baba gave up his body and let his head fall gently on the shoulders of a near disciple. The great "Avtar's" glorious period of Messiahship,  his self allotted labour of love, came to an abrupt end.  All the magic light seemed to have died out that erestwhile had given to thousands  of seekers courage and hope and inspiration. In a moment all the chambers of the ashram seemed emptied of delight and a strange desolation filled each heart.  But not for long......for, resurrection ever keeps pace with and outlives the forces  of death and destruction. The great Avtar of Love and Compassion gave up his  body so that his spirit may be ressurected in the hearts of thousands of his ever-growing bhaktas.

Greatness of Sai Baba Udi

Greatness of Udi (ITS MIRACULOUS POWERS)

It is well-known that Baba took Dakshina from all, and out of the amount thus collected, He spent a lot on charity and purchased fuel with the balance left with Him. This fuel He threw in the Dhuni - the sacred fire, which he kept ever burning. The ash from this fire was called Udi and it was freely distributed to the devotees at the time of their departure from Shirdi. Udi or ash is the purest substance on earth having tremendous powers of doing and undoing and is the result of sacrifices offered to fire (agni) which purifies everything by destroying whatever is evil. Performing 'Yagha' (Dhuni) is the most pious ritual recommended. The ancient Vedic literature.

There is a deeper underlying significance behind Baba’s practice of for distributing Udi. Baba taught by His Udi that all the visible phenomena in the universe are as transient as the ash. Our bodies composed of wood or matter of the five elements will fall down, become inanimate after all their enjoyments are over, and will be reduced to ashes. In order to remind the devotees of the fact that their bodies will be reduced to ashes, Baba distributed Udi to them. Baba also taught by the Udi that the Brahman is the only Reality and the universe is ephemeral and that no one in this world, be he a son, father or wife, is really ours. We come here (in this world) alone and we have to go out alone. It was found and is even now found out, that the Udi cured many physical and mental maladies, but Baba wanted to din into the devotee's ears the principles of discrimination between the Unreal and the Real, non-attachment for the Unreal, by His Udi and Dakshina. The former (Udi) taught us discrimination and the latter (Dakshina) taught us non-attachment. Unless we have these two things, it is not possible for us to cross over the sea of the mundane existence. So Baba asked for and took Dakshina, and while the devotees took leave, He gave Udi as Prasad, besmeared some of it on the Bhaktas' foreheads and placed His boon-conferring hand on their heads. When Baba was in a cheerful mood, He used to sing merrily. One such song was about Udi. The text of the Udi song was, "Oh, playful Rama, come, come, and bring with you sacks of Udi." Baba used to sing in very clear and sweet tones.

So much about the spiritual implication of Udi. It had also its material significance. It conferred health, prosperity, freedom from anxiety, and many other worldly gains. So the Udi has helped us to gain both our ends - material as well as spiritual.

The Power of Shirdi Saibaba Udi

The Powers of Udi

Friends, I have told you what Udi is. It is not the ordinary ash. It is the ash from the dhuni which Baba had lit by his yogic power. Hence the Udi has all the powers of Baba. It has banished the agonies and cured incurable diseases of innumerable persons. Here are a few real instances.

A certain doctor's nephew had bone-cancer. The doctor tried all remedies, including surgical operation, but in vain. With acute pain, the boy cried pitiably. At last the doctor brought the boy to Baba and threw all burden on him. Daily Baba placed a blessing glance on the wound and applied Udi on it. Within a week, the boy was completely cured.

Another doctor had a guinea-worm in his leg, which was terribly swollen and caused intense pain. He approached Baba with a request to release him from his mortal coil and thus end his agony for good. Baba daily applied Udi to his leg and also administered it orally. One day, an attendant inadvertently stepped on the doctor's affected leg with the result that the wound burst open and the guinea-wom was driven out. The doctor was soon cured.

There are countless instances of this kind. But I will tell you one, deserving special mention.
Nanasaheb Chandorkar, one of the earliest devotees of Baba, was a mamlatdar at Jamner, about 24 miles from Jalgaon in Khandesh. One can go upto Jalgaon by railway and then take a tonga.

Nanasabeb's daughter, Maina had come to Jamner for delivery. For fortyeight hours, she was in labour and her very life was in danger. Nanasaheb was appealing to Baba to come to her succour. Sai Baba as if 'heard' it in Shirdi. Ramgir, a resident Bhakta, was then inspired to go to his village in Khandesh. He came to ask for Baba's permission. Baba said, "Yes. Start immediately. But first go to Nanasaheb at Jamner, givehim Udi and Arati, and then proceed home". Baba gave him a packet of Udi from the Dhuni with his own hands and the Arati on a piece of paper to be recited at Maina's bedside. Ramgir took the two things, but, in a tone of anxiety, he asked, "Baba, I have only two rupees with me. With this much. I can barely go to Jalgaon. But how could I make a detour to Jamner and thence to my place ?" "You need not worry," Said Baba, "You only go to Jalgaon. Everything will be arranged thereafter." With firm faith in Baba, Ramgir started. He had to pay Rs. 1-14-0 for railwav ticket and only two annas were left with him. About midnight the train reached Jalgaon and Ramgir got down. Just then a sepoy in Khaki uniform approached him and said "Sir, you are Ramgir from Shirdi, I hope". Ramgir said he was. "Then come along," said the sepoy, Nanasaheb has sent me with a tonga for you." Ramgir thought that as Baba had hinted he must have sent a word to Nanasaheb and asked him to make these arrangements. The sepoy gave him a few snacks, which he said, were sent bv Nanasaheb. Then the tonga started and by dawn, it arrived at Jamner. The sepoy, pointing to a distant 'building, said, "That is Nanasaheb's office." Ramgir alighted there to ease himself and went behind a bush. But as he came out, what did he find ? Nothing, no horses, no carriage, no sepoy. All had disappeared. Dumbfounded, he went to Nanasaheb's office and, obtaining Nanasabeb's address, went there. Saluting Nanasaheb, he said, "Baba has sent me here from Shirdi and has given you these things." A thrill went through Nanasaheb on hearing this. He said, 'Oh Baba, Baba! What should I say to you ? I called your name here and hearing my call in Shirdi, you at once ran here in the form of these things. A million pranams to you ! "

Nanasaheb applied the Udi to his daughter and put a little in her mouth too. Then he sat by her bedside, reciting the arati. And would you believe it ? In half an hour, Maina delivered safely. Ramgir was waiting outside. Nanasaheb came out and thanked him profoundly. Eagerly Ramgir asked, "Nana, your tonga brought me to Jamner all right. But then as I got down to ease myself, it suddenly vanished. Where is that tonga ?" "Which tonga ?" asked the puzzled Nana. "Your tonga which you had sent for me to Jalgaon Station. Your sepoy met me there, g;ave me your delicious snacks and brought me here with great speed."

With tears of gratitude, Nanasaheb said, "Ramgir, I had not the faintest idea that you were coming. So how could I have sent the tonga ? This is all no doubt done by Baba. How unbounded is your kripa, Oh mother Sai !"

Later, Nanasaheb himself related this whole incident to the people assembled at Shirdi. It therefore bears a stamp of authority.
